Bob became a Christian at the age of nine. It was through the teachings of Sunday School leaders and pastors that he came to believe. On the night he was baptized, he played the organ and sang “Amazing Grace.” He believes that night to be both his public declaration of faith and his music ministry in the church. Bob has served in ministry for over 28 years, specifically in the area of music. He has served at FBC Jacksonville since October of 2012. Bob earned an Associate of Arts degree in Music from Sauk Valley College, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Northern Illinois University. He also earned a Master of Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas. He is married to Angela and has two children: Robert and James. He believes that music ministry is of utmost importance to the spiritual life and growth of the local church. He is called to be a minister as well as a musician. Bob’s passion is to remain true to God’s call as he serves Him through the ministry of FBC Jacksonville.

Below is a short list of some of the primary doctrinal beliefs we have at FBC Jacksonville. You can find a more detailed list here.

  • God is the creator and Ruler of the universe.

  • God eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is co-equal with the Father.

  • The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God.

  • The Holy Spirit empowers and equips believers for Christian living.

  • The Bible is God’s Word to us.

  • People are made in the image of God, to be like him in character.

  • Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.

  • Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity.

  • All people will exist forever either in Heaven or Hell.
