First Baptist Church WEE Care Child Development Center is presently accepting applications for full-time assistant teachers in our Infant, Two Year Old, and Three Year Old Classrooms and part-time afternoon teachers.  This is a great opportunity for a recent graduate in child development or early childhood education or someone with an associates degree.  We have high standards and are looking for the best.

Assistant Teachers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Christian who demonstrates Christian growth through exemplary behavior, prayer life, Bible study, and church involvement
  • A basic love for children and a commitment to teach them and relate to their families as a positive Christian role model
  • Exemplify a Christ-like attitude to the children, parents, and other staff
  • A minimum of high school diploma or its equivalent
  • A minimum of one year experience working with preschool children in a childcare or church setting
  • Have a clear understanding of early childhood behavior and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Meet all requirements for the Alabama Minimum Standards within one week of hire date
  • Be able to consistently lift forty pounds on a daily basis.  Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and lifting; cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, and moving classroom furniture

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a positive work and learning environment for staff and children
  • Maintain compliance with all policies and procedures of the center and all rules and regulations governing the center
  • Work cooperatively with all teachers in the classroom to maintain a stable learning environment
  • Assume the classroom duties when the lead teacher is absent
  • Participate with the lead teacher in the development of lesson plans
  • Assist in implementing the daily schedule and the planned activities that meet the developmental needs of the assigned children
  • Relate to parents in an effective and positive manner
  • Attend all staff and parent meetings.  Participate in events, fundraisers, and programs sponsored by the center
  • Cooperate in the daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment, classroom, bathrooms, and playground
  • Sincerely represent First Baptist Church WEE Care C.D.C. by maintaining a positive reputation and image within the community
  • Develop and maintain a positive professional relationship with the Director, Assistant Director, other staff members, and families.
  • Maintain flexibility at all times.  Be willing to pitch in and help wherever needed in other classrooms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Assistant Director

Afternoon Teacher
